Heat

January16

The sun burned down on me in fiery bundles. It blinded anyone who dared to look up. Sweat rushed down my face in wave like ripples.

We were winning the game and I was playing good, I had even scored, but-

The heat. Oh the undeniable heat. It felt like a massive fire god was throwing hundreds of fire balls down on me—making me feel like I was melting into a human-sized puddle on the ground.

By the end of the game “heat” had turned my face as pink as Cotten candy—and the slightest touch to the skin sent a burning sensation through my whole body.

We ended up winning the game—but I will never forget how hot it was that day. The heat literally burned itself into my memory forever.

I Am From

November26

I am from…..

the warmth of grandma’s homemade hot chocolate melting away your taste buds

watching fireworks blast into the sky and burst into an array of colors on New Years Eve

From hiking through forests of giant towering cedar trees

and sitting on that one giant white bolder with my best friend letting my problems float away with the wind

From horrifying yet hilarious makeovers with my best friends

and sticking my head out the window the moment we reach the Colorado border every summer

From staring at the extraordinary mix of colors that form the beautiful paintings that my great aunt paints

and fearing the long scaly body and the knife like white venomous teeth of a snake

From decorating gingerbread houses with tons and tons of candy every year before christmas

to staying up late, curling up into bundles of blankets reading the night before christmas on christmas eve

from exploring new wonders, as I travel to new places

And wet slobbery kisses from my two black labs

from adrenaline rushing through my body as I kick the ball into the back of the big white net

and smiling so hard it hurts, as I make fun summer memories down at the lake

I am from many experiences, good and bad, experiences that made me who I am today

Christmas Time!

November16

Lights strung on every building possible
Warm scents linger in the air
Cold wraps you up in giant hug
Bundles of blankets make you look like a giant ball of fluff
The chocolate milky taste of hot chocolate tingles your taste buds with delight
As you take it all in your mouth slowly inches itself into a giant smile
Christmas time has finally arrived!

First choir concert!

November9

“Wow, I can’t believe I am finally here!” My Mind was racing with thoughts. My hands were shaking and my stomach was turning round in round. Sweat rolled down the back of my neck. I shifted my weight from my right foot to my left. It felt as if the chile I had eaten for dinner was going to come back up. I could hardly believe that my first choir concert in an advanced choir was finally here!

I was super excited, but I was also very nervous. My choir group were the first ones up. I followed the girl in front of me onto the stage, and one by one we all found our place on the wide metal bleachers. First varsity choir came and sang the national anthem. They were really good. Their harmony was amazing.

Then me and two other girls in my class had speaking parts. We were introducing our choir and the songs we were going to sing. I was the second girl to speak. I felt like I was going to die. All those eyes looking like at me. “What if I mess up?” “What if I fall of the stage?” “So many things could go wrong.” Why could I only think about the bad things?

I’m up. I said the first word and then the rest just flowed out of me. Then it was over and I had given it with no problems. I took my place back on the bleachers. Before I knew it we had sang all three songs and we were back in our seats and the crowd was roaring with applause that sounded like thunder.

The rest of the choir concert went by so fast and it was like one giant blur. It was so fun and I can’t wait till our next concert!

Rain

October25

I lay wide awake in my soft bed, my head resting on my fluffy pillow. My big comforter is pulled tight around me. I can hear it pounding on my roof, like a thousand giants feet stomping all over my roof. I am terrified that all of it would be to much for the old brown panels of my roof to hold and it would all come collapsing down on me. Outside my window a yellow light, faster then the blink of an eye, illuminates the sky every few seconds. A noise would follow the light, it sounded like a metal trash can lid falling onto the floor, creating a booming sound. Then, eventually, it slows into a gentle pitter patter. Over time my eyelids get heavier and heavier, until I am fast asleep.

US GAME!!!!!

October20

Today I went to a U.S Women’s soccer game! It was so much fun! I had wanted to go to a game for my whole life!!!! I got to the game and butterflies flew into my stomach! I was so excited! Within the first 5 minutes the U.S scored! The crowd roared! We kept playing, then an Australian player got the ball and zoomed down the field and shot the ball, hard and Hope Solo dives for the ball and makes a brilliant save! A couple minutes later the ball comes in to Abby Wombach and she bicycle kicks it and it goes just over the cross bar. Then around the 14 minute we score again! Making the score 2-0! Then the whistle blows for the second half. I go and get lunch. I get a brisket sandwich and a Dr.Pepper. Then go back to my seat. The second half starts and we have most of the Possession. Then the ball soars through the air, kicked by a defender for the U.S team. It goes past the Australian defenders and Abby sprints forward past all the defenders and right before the goalkeeper gets to it and tapes it into the goal with the outside of her foot, the score then goes up to 3-0. The U.S puts in one more goal before the end of the game! We won 4-0! It was such a great experience and I’m so glad I got to go! I hope I get to go to another game sometime!

Slumber Party

October9

This past weekend I went to my friends house for her slumber party birthday party! It was so much fun! I carpooled with my friend Emma Booth to her house and in the morning Emma’s dad picked us up. The party started at 7. When we got there we were the first ones there. Then Bonnie and Rylie showed up and lastly Hope and Cara showed up. We all went inside and talked about a variety of things. Then we played twister. We played for about 2 hours straight! No one really won. We all got tired after playing for so long so we just quite. It was so much fun! Then we ate cake and ice cream. Next we went up to her room and had a little gossip section. I guess that’s what you would call it. Then a couple of us decided to do bad makeovers! We looked like clowns gone wrong! We made a couple videos while we still had the makeup on. In of them we were singing the song All the Single Ladies!!! It was so funny! It started to get late so we all got our pajamas on and got our sleeping bags ready for bed. But none of us were really tired so we stayed up and talked a little bit more. Some of us even went downstairs and played some more twister. Then finally at around three in the morning we went to bed. In the morning we all woke up and went downstairs. We made ourselves breakfast. We made biscuits, smoothies, and cinnamon toast. We had fruit to go with it. It was delicious! Then Emma’s dad showed up and we had to go home. Emma and I wished my friend a happy birthday and said goodbye to my others friends and we were off. It was the best party ever! I had a blast! I hope I get to do something like that again soon!

Prepositional Poem

September28

Haunted House

Inside the dark and shadowed house
Along the dusty hallways
Down the creaky stairway
Into the old basement
Infested with cobwebs
At the bottom of the stairs there lay a dead body
Inside my throat a scream forms

US Womens Soccer Game Tickets!

September20

I’m really excited because last night my dad told me that he got us two tickets to the US Women’s Soccer Team game in San Antonio! Unfortunately it isn’t until October 20th. I don’t want to wait that long. I will being in a big group with some other girls from my team. I’m not sure if the game in on a weekend or a weekday. I’m hoping it’s on a weekday, because then I would get to leave early in order to get to the game on time, since it’s in San Antonio it will take a while to drive there. Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan are my favorite players from the team and out of all the teams. They are my two idles. I have always wanted to see them play in person and meet them. I don’t think I will actually get to meet them, but just being able to see them play in person will be a honor. I can’t wait till the game!

Soccer

Soccer in the rain ............go Sydney !!

Soccer is my life! I love being able to step onto the field and to forget everything and just focus on the game. I love getting into the feel of the game. I love the rush you get as you run up and down the field, passing the ball, and beating players. I especially love the thrill that rushes through your body when you make that perfect shoot and the ball sails through the air and floats into the back of the white net. Soccer is my favorite sport and I know that even if I lose everything else I’ll always have soccer! What is your favorite sport?
